Serena Brown is a Bahamian track and field athlete and a rising Olympian known for her exceptional talent in the discus throw and her unwavering commitment to excellence. Hailing from New Providence, Serena's journey began on local fields where her natural athletic ability and drive quickly set her apart. By seventeen, she had already etched her name into Bahamian history, breaking The Bahamas' senior national record in the discus throw - a record that announced her arrival as one of the Caribbean's brightest athletic stars.
Serena has proudly represented The Bahamas in international competitions (for various sports), showcasing her talent, discipline, and determination on some of sport's biggest stages, including FIBA, Cazova, CARIFTA, CAC, Panam, IAAF, and YOG. Her journey, however, has not been without adversity. Serena has sustained two significant injuries during her senior career - a shoulder injury that required surgery in 2019, and a lumbar injury that ended her collegiate career in 2021, right after breaking the national record, again. Nevertheless, her recovery and continued dedication prove that true strength comes not from ease, but from the courage to rebuild and rise again—through hard work and grace.
Now training toward qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games, Serena's return to elite competition is a testament to her diligence and conviction. But her vision extends far beyond competition. Her journey has taught her the importance of empowerment and advocacy. So, naturally, her passion lies there as well. Serena is dedicated to using her platform to mentor the next generation of Bahamian athletes and ultimately advocate for Caribbean women in sports. She aims to inspire the youth to discover and harness their potential and pursue their dreams fearlessly through community outreach, charity collaborations, and motivational speaking.
Serena Brown, as a record-breaking discus thrower, embodies what it means to represent The Bahamas with excellence, strength, and purpose. Her story is one of determination and dignity. Serena is proof that with passion, focus, and faith, greatness is possible from even the smallest of nations. She is a national role model.
